War is one of the most savage and cruelest parts of humanity. Nothing brings out the worst in human nature than war. Even when one side of a war can claim victory, no one wins. People are still dead, permanently injured, orphaned and widowed. Even the “uninjured” soldiers returning home from war are forever scarred with complications from PTSD affecting the their families and surrounding community. World Sports Alliance is proud to be a Champion of the Safe Ground Land Mine Action Campaign. Upon the clearing of a land mine field by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), World Sports Alliance has the privilege of covering the former mine field with professional level soccer/football turf as a means to heal the community. The Safe Ground campaign is at the heart of what World Sports Alliance was created for; as a means to make the world better through sports.
If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children- Mahatma Ghandi
As a Champion of the Safe Ground Land Mine Campaign, World Sports Alliance is continuing its core mission of Sport, Development and Peace in furtherance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. WSA has experienced firsthand the positive affects that a professional level soccer/football pitch can have on a community. It is our sincerest hope that by installing these pitches around the world that we are truly saving lives by encouraging an end to conflict. World Sports Alliance Intergovernmental Organization pays a special tribute to the brave men and women of the UN Mine Action Services, who risk their lives so that healing after war can take place and peace has a chance to flourish.
